Graduate Sales Recruitment News

Most graduates 'want jobs in London'

The majority of graduates are looking for capital-based work, such as sales jobs in London, a new report has found.

A survey by Milkround found that 60 per cent of graduates expect to look for a job in capital, down from 71 per cent in 2007, reports Online Recruitment magazine.

Some 73 per cent of respondents said they wanted to find a sales jobs or other role in a city, with 48 per cent claiming they would choose an urban centre over any other location after leaving university.

Mike Barnard, a spokesperson for Milkround.com, said that high living costs may be deterring some graduates from looking for sales jobs in London or other capital-based jobs, but many will still flock to the biggest city in Britain to seek their fortune.

He said: "However, with south-east England remaining a firm favourite with graduates, we would expect to continue to see the commute into London from towns and cities in the home counties be maintained for the foreseeable future, as graduates continue to find a match between sought-after London jobs and a manageable work-life balance."

Meanwhile, recent Ceridian research found that 53 per cent of UK workers would not be willing to tell their family details of their salary, according to Personnel Today.
