Employers 'encouraged to seek best graduates'

The government is to help UK businesses recruit the best people at graduate level.

A new guide launched by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills aims to help employers look outside of their usual practices in recruiting staff, to make sure they are open, fair and reaching the most talented people.

David Lammy, minister of state for higher education, commented: "Recruitment to the professions must be open and fair for all applicants, regardless of their background. It is talent and hard work that should determine success."

He added that while employers are making good progress, there is still more to be done to ensure firms are able to recruit the best people.

The department went on to say that the guide recognises there is no one-size-fits-all route to fairer recruitment and that different businesses will have different requirements dependent on their size, location and the sector they belong to.

Earlier this week, health secretary Alan Johnson and work and pensions secretary James Purnell announced a government health scheme to help those experiencing anxiety and stress as they search for work.

Aaron Wallis are a Milton Keynes Sales Recruitment agency with a unique service offering that includes 12 months rebate. Psychometric profiling and online skills testing are also included within a fixed recruitment price.
