Interning can help graduates into sales jobs

Going on an unpaid internship is a good way to get new skills which could impress bosses when applying for sales jobs, according to one expert.

Dom Potter, director of interning website Internocracy.org, said that securing a placement can help candidates show commitment to a career in sales jobs and also give them skills they would not have the chance to develop in school or further education.

The director said: "Internships are a really good bridge between education and employment because they cross the two worlds. There are so many non-cognitive skills that you can pick up doing internships which you wouldn't get from just academia."

Better access to such programmes was also called for by the director, who thinks there should be a website where candidates can see all available interning opportunities.

The Mirror recently said that graduates should use work experience as a way of impressing potential employers and improve their skill-set.
