Sales recruitment: Work experience 'great for CV'

Undertaking work experience can be a huge boost to a CV for university graduates hoping to find a sales job during the recession, according to Lincoln University's students union.

Writer Mark Bowery advised that gaining a degree was no longer enough to guarantee a top job during the current economic downturn.

One of the university's success stories, Dave Lee, who now works for the BBC's World Service, said that current students seeking sales jobs should use their time at university to show a dedication and passion towards a specific career.

He added: "I think the key is to just cram your time with as much as you can. I was told by a lecturer to spend half my time dealing with my course and the other half on extra stuff such which will help you get a job."

Mr Lee commented that undertaking work experience shows that a person can handle the pressure of a professional environment and any evidence of that on a CV can be very valuable.
