'Marketing is the key' to graduate sales recruitment success
Graduates need to make sure that they market themselves correctly in order to have success in sales recruitment schemes, an expert has advised.
Carl Gilleard, chief executive of the Association of Graduate Recruiters, said that 20 well-targeted applications are better than 50 scattergun ones.
"As a recruiter you can always tell a candidate who has done their research; they've researched the job, they've researched the company and they have tailored their application to that," he added.
Mr Gilleard also said that it was important for candidates to draw upon experience and skills learnt from inside and outside of university.
He advised that societies, volunteering work or part-time jobs are things which can help to enhance a graduate's CV.
Recent comment from the British Chamber of Commerce said that graduate recruitment schemes generate a return of £5.30 for every £1 of investment, with the average graduate paying for themselves within 20 months of starting.
