Graduates will find sales jobs 'if they are good enough'
Sales recruitment success will come to those graduates who are good enough, according to an industry expert.
Sarah Shillingford, graduate recruitment partner at business advisory firm Deloitte, told Personnel Today that recent figures which show high levels of competition for places were not a concern, as the standard of applicants remained high.
She added that, when people are applying for a job they look at a wide range of criteria, not just the amount that they will get paid or how many other graduates they are competing against.
"Graduates realise it's not a lottery and if they are good enough they will get the job irrespective of the numbers who have applied. They are looking at the long-term prospects, like getting training and long-term career prospects," she commented.
Richard Irwin, a senior consultant in the recruitment centre of PricewaterhouseCoopers, said that as long as UK employers continue to be smart about how they provide opportunities and continue to invest in offering the best, the market will bounce back.
Earlier this week, sales recruitment hopefuls were boosted by the news that employee confidence in business performance and the economic outlook is growing.
