Sales recruitment hopefuls gain experience through placements
Graduate work placements are on the increase as sales recruitment hopefuls attempt to get ahead of the competition and boost their CV with extra skills and experience.
The Irish Times reported that the placements offer graduates and other young people an invaluable first step into a career.
These opportunities have long been seen in the media, however, the recession has led to many more sectors, such as sales, creating unpaid positions to allow graduates to gain experience.
A postgraduate student from University College Dublin told the source that she is prepared to work for a year for free before applying for paid positions.
"I think unpaid internships to gain experience are justified, but I think there should be more part-time ones," she added.
Last month, it was reported that firms such as KPMG were increasing their graduate recruitment back to 2008 levels to support growth areas in the business, after reducing the number of places last year.
