Willetts: Graduates will receive more support

The new minister of state for universities and science has spoken about the renewed support that the coalition government plans to give to graduates who are entering the jobs market.

David Willetts MP stated that young people were the biggest losers during the recession but the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats plan to make the jobs market easier to access for university leavers.

The message for those looking for graduate sales jobs is that the scrapping of the national insurance tax will help make the market less difficult.

"We are committed to doing all we can to make it easier for them to find work and realise their ambitions. That is why we will get rid of the planned tax on jobs by raising the national insurance thresholds for employers," he stated.

The minister added that the new government thinks there is enormous value in higher education and because of this 10,000 extra university places will be available this year.

Graduates going into sales jobs will not have to live with pay freezes for much longer, according to Duncan Brown, director of HR business development at the Institute for Employment Studies, who said they could hinder progression and staff retention in post-recession Britain.
