Graduate Sales Recruitment News

Young people 'ready and able' for the workplace

The majority of companies feel that young people are ready and willing to move into sales recruitments posts, according to a new survey.

A nationwide poll carried out by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) questioned 80,000 firms about whether they believed young people who had left education at the age of 16 were ready to move into work, with two-thirds saying yes.

According to Chris Humphries, chief executive of UKCES, said the majority of employers had a "positive experience" when hiring young people.

"Whilst it is important to continue efforts to make school, college and university leavers as work-ready as possible, it is up to employers to leave their prejudices behind and ensure they make the most of this pool of talent," he explained.

Meanwhile, data issued by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development as part of its net employment index shows that the number of new positions being created for sales jobs and other roles continues to rise in the private sector as companies boost their recruitment drives.
